Love was in the air.
But it was more than that.
Way. More.
A ‘pausing’ kind of more-than-that.
I was emotional at times. I was angst over capturing the right moments. I was in awe.
The beauty that surrounded me. Watching the tape afterwards. Night after night. Laughing at the same parts. Crying at the same parts.
Why?
This same couple during the dance. The fun they were having. I was so entranced by their energy. He reminded me of my hilarious friend Leo. She was just so free and fun, loving every minute of her handsome court jester.
In the final cut, my heart, my soul, compelled me to include virtually the full clip of them during a certain song.
(The song was I’m Living on Such Sweet Nothing by Calvin Harris.)
This couple….he could have said anything, and she would have laughed deeply, wonderfully, heartily. It was, it is, that time for them.
The still shots below are pulled from the video. They aren’t overly clear, but they don’t need to be. You can feel their energy. Laughing uncontrollably. Singing. Dancing. Playful. I loved it that night. I still love it. I love them. They unknowingly burrowed a path deep into my heart, and broke me open. I am grateful.
Sometimes after decades together, we no longer give each other the benefit of the doubt without question. A surrendering.
Early, when we are open, we want love to be true. We long for it to feel true. And so, we open. We take chances, together. We are free. We give ourselves over, without judgment or reservation. No lingering resentment clouding our openness.
Open abandon, if you will. Trust. We are generous with it.
Mike and Ange’s wedding was about them, but suddenly it was about me. I felt things at that wedding that I had not witnessed, not felt, in a while.
Weddings are intense for so many reasons.
Mike and Ange’s wedding was something I didn’t know I needed until I was standing in the middle of it trying to capture the best parts.
The weather? Perfect.
The colours? Perfect.
The setting? Perfect.
The friends? Perfect.
The family? Perfect.
The groom? Perfect.
The bride? Perfect.
People coming together purely in and through love.
Yes, weddings are beautifully intense. I was reminded.
Mike and Ange hired me to film their wedding. But they unknowingly offered me something that the corners of my heart needed to feel. To them, for them, I am grateful.
Only Love,
